Resumen

El objetivo general de la tesis doctoral ha sido mejorar los procesos de identificación y desarrollo del joven futbolista con talento, y los específicos: (1) determinar la fiabilidad en la evaluación del futbolista con talento, (2) crear un instrumento fiable de detección, y (3) comprobar las diferencias técnico-tácticas entre aquellos jugadores talentosos y no talentosos. La investigación ha tenido tres fases. En primer lugar, un estudio con 103 jugadores de fútbol analizando las diferencias mostradas en los indicadores de rendimiento: influencia en el equipo, goles/disparos, duelos aéreos, penaltis, entradas, pases cortos y largos. En segundo lugar, se validó un instrumento de detección del joven futbolista con talento (Nomination Scale for Identifying Football Talent), dentro de la cantera de un club de fútbol profesional que milita en la segunda división española. Se contó con un total de 201 jugadores y 11 entrenadores. Se adaptaron aquellos procesos efectivos llevados a cabo en el ámbito educativo en la identificación del alumnado con altas capacidades intelectuales: inclusión de entrenadores, padres e iguales en el proceso de evaluación.  En tercer lugar, se analizó el rendimiento de juego técnico-táctico de los 33 jugadores identificados, comparando su rendimiento con el que aquellos no talentosos. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron el Game Performance Evaluation Tool y el Sistema de Evaluación Táctico en Fútbol. Los resultados mostraron la escasa fiabilidad de los indicadores de rendimiento como medida de evaluación de los jugadores con talento. El instrumento diseñado y validado se presenta válido y fiable para su uso en los procesos de detección. Los compañeros de equipo son aquellos que mejor discriminan a los jugadores con talento. Se reveló un desempeño muy elevado de los jugadores considerados como talentosos, en su comparación con una muestra de jugadores no seleccionados. Finalmente, se concluye la importancia de utilizar herramientas validadas en los procesos de identificación y formación del jugador de fútbol, con el propósito de evitar sesgos en la selección del joven futbolista con talento.

Abstract

The formation of talent in the sports field: the transfer of formative processes in the field of education to the young football player

The general objective of the doctoral thesis has been to improve both identification and development processes of the talented young footballer. The specific ones have been (1) to determine the reliability in the evaluation of the talented footballer, (2) to create a reliable detection instrument, and (3) check the technical-tactical differences between those talented and non-talented players. The investigation was carried out in three phases. First, a study with 103 soccer players analyzing the differences in performance indicators: influence on the team, goals/shots, aerial duels, penalties, tackles, short and long passes. Secondly, an instrument for detecting the talented young footballer (Nomination Scale for Identifying Football Talent) was validated, within the formation stages of a professional football club which is in the Spanish second division. The sample was formed by a total of 201 players and 11 coaches. Those effective processes carried out in the educational field about the identification of students with high intellectual capacities were adapted: inclusion of coaches, parents and peers in the evaluation process. Thirdly, the technical-tactical game performance of the 33 identified players was analyzed, comparing their performance between talentd and non-talented players. The instruments used were the Game Performance Evaluation Tool and the Tactical Evaluation System in Soccer. The results showed the poor reliability of the performance indicators as an evaluation measure for talented players. The instrument created is both valid and reliable for using in detection processes. Teammates are those who best discriminate talented players. It was revealed a very high performance of the players considered as talented, in their comparison with a sample of players not selected. Finally, it is concluded the importance of using validated tools in the identification and training processes of the soccer player, with the purpose of avoiding physical or maturation biases in the selection of the talented young footballer.
