Jugando contra el enemigo: Raimundo Saporta y el primer viaje del equipo de baloncesto del Real Madrid CF a la Unión Soviética. (Playing against the enemy: Raimundo Saporta and the first trip of Real Madrid CF´s basketball team to the Soviet Union).

Resumen

Este artículo pretende abordar el papel desempeñado por el deporte en la política exterior del régimen de Franco durante los años sesenta. En particular, se analiza la importancia de Raimundo Saporta en el mundo del deporte, y concretamente su influencia en el baloncesto de la segunda mitad del siglo XX en el contexto español e internacional, así como en el ámbito político y diplomático. Además, este trabajo se centra en el estudio de los dos partidos jugados entre el Real Madrid y el CSKA de Moscú en la final de la Copa de Europa de baloncesto en 1963; y en el protagonismo que tendrá Saporta en su papel de negociador, para conseguir que tanto las autoridades españolas como las soviéticas concedieran el permiso para que se disputara la eliminatoria a dos partidos.

 Abstract

This article aims to address the role played by the sport in the Franco regime´s foreign policy during the sixties. In particular, we analyze the importance of Raimundo Saporta in the world of the sport, and specifically his influence in the basketball of the second half of XX century in the Spanish and international context, as well as in the sphere political and diplomatic. In addition, this work focuses on the study of the two matches played between Real Madrid CF and CSKA Moscow in the final of the European Cup of Basketball in 1963; and the protagonism of Saporta as negotiator that he will carry out, to secure that the Spanish authorities as much as the Soviet were granted the permission to play the eliminatory matches on two legs.
